What we do

Four things, done properly.

Most of our work comes from solicitors who need something done once, correctly, and evidenced well enough that nobody has to do it again. That is the whole business.

01

Process serving

Personal service anywhere in England and Wales. Every attempt is logged at the time it is made, and you receive a certificate or sworn affidavit of service prepared to CPR standard, ready to be filed.

  • Statutory demands
  • Claim forms
  • Injunctions
  • Section 8 and 21
  • Petitions

02

Tracing and status reports

Confirmation that an address is live and occupied before you spend money attending it. Where a subject has moved on, we establish where to, and report what can be evidenced rather than what is merely likely.

  • Current address
  • Occupancy checks
  • Debtor tracing
  • Company and director searches

03

Surveillance

Discreet, lawful observation, logged to the minute and supported by time stamped footage. Proportionate, recorded properly, and prepared on the assumption it will one day be looked at closely by the other side.

  • Static and mobile
  • Time stamped footage
  • Written observation logs
  • Statements

04

General investigations

The enquiry work that sits behind a live matter. Background and asset enquiries, witness location, statement taking, and the quiet groundwork that decides whether a claim is worth running at all.

  • Background enquiries
  • Asset and company checks
  • Witness location
  • Statement taking

How an instruction runs

From papers in hand to a certificate you can file.

No portal to learn and no account manager in between. You speak to the person who will attend, and you are told the truth about what is achievable before anything is charged.

01Instruct
  1. 01

    Instruct

Send the papers and whatever you already know. A phone call is enough to start. Scope, deadline and a fixed fee are confirmed before any work begins.

  2. 02

    Verify

The address is checked before anyone attends it. Paying for three attempts at a property the subject left eighteen months ago helps nobody, and we would rather tell you that on day one.

  3. 03

    Attend

Attempts are made when a person is realistically going to be there. Early mornings, evenings and weekends included. Service is personal wherever the rules and the circumstances allow it.

  4. 04

    Evidence

Date, time, address, description, what was said and what was handed over, recorded at the point it happens. Nothing is written up from memory a week later.

  5. 05

    Report

A certificate of service or sworn affidavit, prepared for filing, with the full attempt log behind it. Sent to you in writing, usually the same day service is effected.

Where we work

London on the doorstep. The rest of it covered.

Based in Ealing since 2002, which means most of Greater London is a short drive rather than a day trip, and urgent work can genuinely be same day.

  • LondonAll boroughs. Same day and next day attendance subject to the papers reaching us in time.
  • Home CountiesNext day as standard for Surrey, Kent, Essex, Hertfordshire, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire.
  • England & WalesNationwide instructions accepted, quoted per matter with no surprise mileage on the invoice.
  • Further afieldScotland, Northern Ireland and overseas arranged through the Association of British Investigators network.

Before you instruct

The questions we are actually asked.

If yours is not here, phone. You will get a straight answer rather than a callback from someone else.

It depends on the address and the subject, not on how much you pay. In London we can often attend the same day if the papers reach us in the morning. Tell us the deadline when you instruct and you will be told plainly whether it is achievable before you commit.

A certificate of service, or a sworn affidavit where the matter requires one, prepared in a form that can be filed. Behind it sits the full attempt log: dates, times, addresses, descriptions and what was said at the door.

We trace. In a good number of cases it is cheaper to run a status report first than to pay for repeated attempts at an address that is already dead. If we think that is your situation, we will say so before taking the instruction.

We hold Association of British Investigators membership number F1099, on the ABI register since 1994. London Legal Services Limited was incorporated in 2002 and is registered at Companies House under number 04385218. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office and work to the Data Protection Act 2018 and UK GDPR.

Yes, alongside the firms we act for. The standards do not change and neither does the paperwork. Some enquiries are ones we will decline, and we will tell you why rather than take the fee.

A fixed fee per instruction, agreed before work starts, covering the agreed number of attempts and the certificate. Firms instructing regularly are put on a volume rate. There are no mileage surcharges hidden at the bottom of the invoice.
